Our events
The society works with The Actuarial Profession and several actuarial firms. It organizes events that include talks by actuarial firms, lectures by professionals and skills workshops. It also provides students access to the reading materials in The Actuarial Profession in Oxford.
Be An Actuary
An actuary provides commercial, financial and prudential advice on the management of assets and liabilities - especially where long term management and planning are critical factors. Actuaries traditionally work in finance, investment and risk management, general insurance, life insurance, pensions and social security.
Actuaries apply financial and statistical techniques to solve real business problems. They use skills in mathematics, economics, finance, probability and statistics, and business to help businesses assess the risk of certain events occurring and to formulate policies that minimize the cost of that risk.
